I have a Board with this filter:

project = REALM AND component = Tech ORDER BY Rank ASC

If I select an Epic and create an Issue, Jira automatically fills in the Component with Tech and the Epic with the one selected

If I deselect the Epic and create an issue, Jira sets the Component but leaves the Epic blank, as expected.

If I select Create Epic, the Component is NOT filled in, and a popup appears that says "Your epic REALM-50 has been created but is not currently visible."

Is there a way to get new Epics to automatically have the Component set to the Board that I'm currently viewing?

Thanks.

Add component to your epic create screen and mark it as required in your field configuration for epics.  That will result in the component field showing in your create screen for you to select as well as not allowing you to create without selecting a component.

Thanks for the answer. I understand this could be a workaround but I would like confirmation that is it expected that the Component does not get automatically filled, like it is for Issues?
