Why does the Create Issue / Create Story form / dialogue NOT allow you enter the Story Points field ?

It seems crazy that you can't enter the Story Points field when you are creating a Story !!!CreateStory1.PNGCreateStory3.PNGCreateStory4.PNGCreateStory2.PNG

It just means that you do not have that field on the screen due to the configurations you have in your instance. It is easy to add the field to the screen if you are an admin.

If you are an admin, you can use the Field helper: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/jira-admin-helper-938847791.html#JIRAAdminHelper-FieldHelper

You are wrong / missing the point.  I checked SEVERAL new Jira projects on SEVERAL different jira instances and this is the default behaviour.

So let me repeat my question :

It seems crazy that you can't enter the Story Points field when you are creating a Story !!!

ie. OUT OF THE BOX !!!

To require a customisation for this is IMHO ludicrous.

They are configured correctly for you if you create projects of a type where Story Points are standard for the project type.

My guess is that you've been creating projects of a type that just don't have them as part of the template.

So which project types do you think DON'T have story points ?  Are you trying to say a Scrum type project shouldn't have Story points ?

Scrum should have them, and when I create Scrum projects, they're there.

can you please :

1. Post a copy of the same screenshots I posted above

2. Confirm you haven't customised Jira issues

Just to be clear - the only place I seem to be able to enter Story Points 'out of the box' in a Scrum Software project is on the Backlog view - NOT on the Create Issue dialogue or Edit

I get the same as you, with Story Points.  No customisation.
