Onur AKÇAY July 5, 2023

Hello, so basicly what i want to do is; if one of my employees send a mail to "support@abc.com" jira would create a issue automaticly.  I checked the automation tab but didnt find anything. Is there any way to do it? thanks for the help

Hi @Onur AKÇAY ,

Good day! You can achieve the result by using Mail Handlers. Using this Mail handler you can create new issues or add comments to existing issues.

How it works?

  • Whenever you send an email, if the subject line of the email has a issue key, then the body of the email is added as a comment to the issue ( issue key in subject )
  • If the subject line of the email has no issue key, the in-reply-to header is scanned ( to check if it's a reply to another existing email ) and accordingly, creates a comment on that issue and if no reply to the existing issue is found, then a new issue is created.

You can find more details in this document on how to setup email handlers: Create issues and comments from email

Thankyou.

Hi @Onur AKÇAY

This is what you're looking for - Create issues and comments from email

You'll have to create custom mail handler that will create issue or add comment to an existing one when email is received.
