Hi.
Previously we use the Epics swimlane.
The problem we're facing is that our backlog is prioritised by stories. The top story is the most important.
When we pull these stories to a sprint and then view the sprint board, the stories will display based on the Epic order.
Is there a JQL that can order the board based on the story?
For example:
In the backlog we have two epics:
Under Epic A we have Story A.1 and Story A.2
Under Epic B we have Story B.1 and Story B.2
Story B.2 is the highest priority, then A.1 then A.2 then B.1.
When we view the active sprint board we want to see the stories and their sub-tasks in order of priority:
B.2
A.1
A.2
B.1
I know there's an option for Story swimlane, but this is not the desired view we want since it doesn't clearly display the stories in their respective columns as the Epics swimlane.
Hi @Gil
@Jack Brickey provided a good explanation of the swimlane behavior.
How much visibility/focus on specific epics does your team need? For example, two work-arounds would be:

Unfortunately swimlanes by epic supersedes the ranking. That said I would expect that within an epic the stories to be ranked correctly. Admittedly I have not used by Epic swimlanes in awhile in conjunction with ranking.
