Hello Atlassian Community!
I am reaching out regarding a difficulty that I facing while trying to create a Sub-Bug Issue type. I was do define this at a similar hierachy level as a sub task.
My use case is to include the sub bugs into a story but I see no way to do this in Project Settings. All the guides online are outdated and do not address this issue for the current version of JIRA software.
Can anyone guide me regarding this?
Hey,
I managed to create a new issue type: sub-bug and do it on a level of sub-task.
I would like to add this to stories issue types (can ba algo added to all but at least to all stories) but it doesn't show up in my project. How do I add it to a project now so the stories can have a sub-bug in drop down to choose from?
Hello @Maria Chec
Welcome to the community.
You will need to add the issue to the Issue Type Scheme associated with your project.

Hello @Tharaka Hettihamu
Welcome to the community.
Your post is tagged as being for Jira Server, but the image you have shown looks like the Project Settings screen for a Team Managed project, which is available only on Jira Cloud.
Can you clarify if you are really using Jira Server or Jira Cloud?
If you want to create an issue that can be a child of a Bug (the same way as a Subtask works), and you are actually using a Team Managed project in Jira Cloud, be advised that is not currently possible as noted in this page
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/set-up-issue-types-in-team-managed-projects/
...under the section titled "Create Custom Issue Types in your team managed software project"
Additional issue types that behave like sub-tasks can be created in Jira Cloud only for Company Managed projects. Refer to this document for instructions
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/add-edit-and-delete-an-issue-type/
Note that when you are creating issue types you can define only their broad category - standard (like Story and Bug and Task) or Sub-task. You cannot limit a Sub-task type of issue to be available only for a specific standard type of issue, when you are creating a new issue type. So, if you create a new issue "Sub-Bug" in the Sub-tasks issue category, you cannot at the same time say that it can only be associated with Bug standard issues. You would have to find other ways to impose that limitation.
If you are actually working with Jira Server, then the process for creating a new issue type would be similar to how it is done for Jira Cloud Company Managed projects, and you would need to create a new issue type in the Sub-task category.

Thank you Trudy. It was due to a permission setting that I was not able to do this.

Hi Tharaka - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
You need to go Settings (gear icon) then Issues
Then go to Issue Types and finally click on the Add issue type button.
It looks like you are to trying to create the issue type through project settings. You need to go to the higher level.
