I have an idea in JIRA Product Discovery. Using automation, I want an initiative issue type created in a project in JIRA Cloud. The initiative issue type has a required field called Team. The idea issue type has a field called Teams. The values in both fields are identical.
The automation is triggered when a field called Approved is checked. I have a THEN: Create a new issue which creates the new initiative in the project in JIRA Cloud. I have the following fields being copied from the Current Issue (the JPD idea): Summary, Description, and Teams.
The automation errors out when creating the issue because the Team field on the initiative is required. I added an AND: Re-fetch issue data, but that doesn't work.
What I want is that the data in the Teams field on the idea is copied over to the initiative when it is created.
SMH - I had the wrong customfield ID! I'm good now!
@Julie Spokus , hi. Glad to hear you've resolved you issue. In case you decide to switch the approach towards the integration, feel free to check out ZigiOps in the Atlassian Marketplace. Hi @Julie Spokus ,
Hope you are doing well.
I am Dhiren from the Exalate Team.
It's great that you were able to create an automation rule for this and were able to achieve your desired use-case.
If you are looking to build something complex in the future (which might not be possible with Jira automation), I would recommend you to try out a fully decentralized solution like Exalate. It provides a Groovy based scripting engine providing limitless flexibility and customizations.
Thanks, Dhiren
