Creating project with shared configuration imports inactive users

Philippe Laurin May 8, 2018

Hi,

Whenever I'm creating a new project by using "Create with shared configuration", when I go to the "People" in the settings of the new project I see many users who have been deactivated. I like to keep things clean, so for every new project I have to manually remove the unwanted users from the project.

How do I edit the list of people who will be imported into the project?

Philippe,

I do not think the shared configuration is causing this. The *create with shared configuration* feature won't copy the *People* configuration. It will tell the new project to use the same configuration objects such as workflows, permissions scheme, etc.

What is happening is that in JIRA, the global defaults are copied at the time of project creation (those roles you are seeing in the new project). You will notice that even if you create without shared configuration, those roles will still be created.

Check your project roles in JIRA, you should be able to remove the deactivated users from roles there.  Then when you create a new project, they should not reappear.

Check out Managing project roles, that should help explain a little better.

That was it, I removed the users from the default project roles and it worked.

Thanks!
