Ctrl+Enter to Create new issue not working

Justin October 11, 2023

While typing in the issue description of a new issue, I pressed ctrl+enter to submit the edits and save the new issue. I expected the issue to be created, but it was not.

This changed recently. I have not switched browsers, and this behavior doesn't work on multiple browsers. This issue happens on multiple coworker computers as well. Confirmed in Windows and Linux browsers. Edge Browser.

### Steps

- Press C to create a new issue

- type in the summary

- type in the description

- press ctrl+enter

- error: expected the issue to be created but it was not

I don't know how long this has been 'broken' in Jira Cloud. Maybe it got lost in the 'new' view. We migrated from Server to Cloud in April 2024. It worked as expected in Jira Server.

  • You can submit the new issue using Ctrl+Enter in fields other than the Description.
  • You can submit/close a Workflow screen using Shift+Alt+S.
  • You can submit change to an issue summary with Ctrl+Enter.

Workaround

Tab from the Description field to another field, then press Ctrl+Enter

I guess the equivalent key binding on OSX is Command+Enter.
