I am trying to create an EPIC on a JIRA board that has currently been set up for an overall programme of work.

I am leading on a separate project that sits underneath this programme and am looking to set up a backlog and stories.  However, it prompts me to select a name of a project from a picklist.

Do I need to create a separate JIRA board for my project first?

Thanks

You can do it through either of the ways:

  • Click on the Create Issue on the global header and select project and Epic.
  • Click on the Project Menu on global header and select your project, then click on create and select Epic.
  • You can also create a board (private/shared) for your project and create Epics directly from the board.
  • From Project Summary view, you can click Backlog -> Epics on left hand navigation and create Epics using the + icon on the Epics subtab
