I created a team-managed project in Jira Software Cloud, using csv importer, including custom fields.
All fields display descriptions inherited the time of the csv import issue creation '(Migrated on 22 Mar 2024 06:13 UTC)'.
I went to Project settings / Issue types and updated the display descriptions for each field, e.g. field name 'Source':
However, on existing and new issues, the 'Migrated on...' description still displays:
Any guidance on how to get the display description to update would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan.
Did you ever find an answer?
I'm having the same challenge in my team-managed project. None of the changes to the display description for my custom fields are being honored in any cards (new or existing). I've tried updating the field's display description in BOTH the Fields screen and in each individual work type. I even tried removing the field from the work type and re-adding it. The description shows correctly in both places in settings and incorrectly in any cards I create.
It's a team managed project and i'm not a system admin so i can't edit settings anywhere outside of the project.
This field is used in multiple automations and workflow rules, so i can't recreate it from scratch without major implications across my project.

In the Fields settings:
In the work item settings:
Hi @Daniel Theobald !
Did you create Source field in your team project or choose from existing one? If you choose it please check CF configuration and remove description from there.

Hi @Sebastian Krzewiński - thanks for replying.
I think it was created during the csv import process/mapping process.
Reason I say this is, the description on it is the time of the csv import issue creation '(Migrated on 22 Mar 2024 06:13 UTC)'.
When I look at Custom fields, there is a field called Source but it's different - the description is neither 'Migrated on...' nor what I have changed it to in the Project settings (first screen shot in my initial query above).
Bit stumped still!
Thanks,
Dan.
