Greetings
What is the difference between Customer and People in Jira
i have created a Project now i want to add users to it so they can log issues, where do i add them? add them as "Customers" or "People"
and what is the difference between them?
Kind regards
Angie
Hi Angie!
You have different roles in Jira Service Management that define how you can interact with the application, how you can access it, and, of course, whether you need a license or not.
"Customers" are unlicensed users and only have access to your service project through the customer portal. "People" in this context are licensed users that can have access to the project or even serve as agents and interact with Jira and issues. So that's what you want here. :) For the full explanation, you should read through the documentation What users and roles are there in Jira Service Management? .
I hope that already cleared things up a bit. Let me know if you have additional questions :)
Best, Max
"People" in this context are licensed users that can have access to the project or even serve as agents and interact with Jira and issues" — this is not true.
In one of my projects it seemed like it could be, but in another project, where customers have been added via Automation, People shows a lot of customers.
After many days of looking around, I finally found the "official" answer (it is probable that the article below did not exist at the time this question was posted):
> When a customer is manually added by an Admin or Agent either in the 'Customer' tab or in the 'People' tab, they will show under the 'Customers' tab and also in the 'People' tab, even if only added in one place, it's mirrored.
If a customer creates their own account through the Help Center or via email, they will only show under the 'Customers' tab, not under the 'People' tab.
