×Hello. We would like to direct Jira users to some information about handling large file attachments. One thought is that we configure Jira to only allow attachments of a certain size (10MB for example) and then when a user attempts to attach a larger file, a message pops up with instructions for handling larger files. We were wondering if it is possible to customize the error message that pops up in Jira when you try to add an attachment that is too big.
We also were looking at adding a description to the Attachments field, but from what I can tell this only shows up on Create and Edit pages for issues -- not the view page. So, this will likely get missed.
Basically looking for solutions for providing a custom message to give instructions for handling large attachments.
Here's an example of the message we would like to customize:
Hi @Greg Brown ,
That is not something that can be done in the UI. In order to change the error messages, it maybe done in the back end but that is probably not supported and would get wipe out during upgrades. May want to open up an Atlassian support ticket in this regards.
Correct, it will only show up in the create and edit. That would be the approach to go for. The view will not show. There's a ticket raise for this to gather interest by voting:
Benjamin,
Thanks. We've opened a ticket, as well.
Greg
