DVCS and branches

is it possible to configure the DVCS connector to only listen to certain branches?

I use updates to a branch "prod" in order to deploy my code changes. It would be great if the jira issues only get resolved when I merge every change to the "prod"-branch. Is this possible?

Is there another way to create such a flow? Should I maybe not use branches but forks of my respository?
