Hi,
if you create a new poject and want to use existing dashboards, then you must copy all filters and switch the project-key in the queries. And you must copy the dashboards and switch the filters in the filtergadgets and switch the project-key in the activitystreamgadget etc. That means a lot of work. Especially when something changes and the changes should be applied to all copied dashboards.
Is it possible to create something like a Dashboard-Template? All gadgets (Filters, Stream etc.) at the dashboard can use the defined placeholder like "{Project}". Then you can create a dashboard from the Dashboard-Template and specify the placeholder "{Project}" = "JRA". That would be awesome if you want the same dashboard for all projects you are involved. And changes at the Dashboard-Template will be applied to all derived dashboards.
Is there something like that already?
Best regards,
Dennis
This would be too useful, and getting project teams setup vs. reinventing the wheel each time. Which means it won't be done!! Surely that is the Atlassian way.
This is really much needed when scaling with teams in a group or scaling with groups in a business unit or scaling with business units in an enterprise. Where we see common patterns of operation and need to align on shared operational data (attributes), then templates driven by Project ID and Team names are the only drivers in an agreed template for encapsulated in filters and underlying fields for operation. As I said it is too valuable and would reduce the time people spend on Jira hence it won't happen.
As far as I know, no. If you want it, you may have to code it out yourself.
