hello all :)

I need a dashboard that shows the sum of the remaining estimated time, distributed evenly across the remaining months until each task's due date. I’ve already managed to create a dashboard, but all the remaining time is currently allocated to the month of the due date. For example, if the due date is December 31, 2024, and there are 40 hours remaining, I would like to see 10 hours per month until December, instead of 40 hours all in December

Forr example, I have 6d  to do in december. But I would like to see : 1.5d in sept, 1.5 in october, 1.5 in oct, and 1.5 ind december.

Thanks all :image.png

HI @Fabien LEBAILLY

As @Lisa Forstberg did great research and maybe the app vendor/developer might have a solution.

The question you are raisin is BI related question.

To accomplish this level of detail, you could look at eazyBI or an app that can transfer date outside Jira to Tableau, PowerBI, etc...

Jira is not a BI tool, there are apps for that.

And as @Lisa Forstberg mentions correctly, due dates and time frames related to the due can differ, so calculating this is "hell" so to speak

So, in my opinion, this is BI related and there a tools built for this.

Hi @Fabien LEBAILLY ,

Welcome to the community!

I see you are using Rich filters which is actually an app that extends the reporting capabilities in Jira with their own documentation and support.

I think you are requesting that the report use the due date of an issue and based on what month it is today spread the remaining estimate of the issue evenly up until the month of the due date.

So as an example if we're in August and the issue is due February the remaining time should be split by 7 months?  But another issue is due in October we should split that issues remaining time  on 3 months?

For this use case I can't think of a report in the OOTB Jira, that will suffice. I think you need to use an extension app for it.

Just testing the gadgets from Rich filters and I can't seem to find a feature that lets you divide the data and then aggregate it again.

Maybe the addon vendor (Appfire) can step in and qualify if its not possible, otherwise I would suggest to ask them via their support function (see link above).

There are other reporting apps on the marketplace that can be explored too for this case.

Best of luck

Lisa

hi, thank you for your answer :)

You’ve understood exactly what I need. I also thought of creating a custom field in my issue, which I used to calculate the remaining estimated time per month through automation. However, I'm not sure how to include this custom field in my monthly chart. If you have an idea.....

I am also waiting for an aproval to try the app "custom charts for jira".

Yes maybe custom charts for Jira have more features in this area.

In my experience, the most flexible app for reporting is EazyBI, in which you can create your own calculations. They also have a lot of pre built reports, a fantastic support and documentation. The only downside is that it takes a little bit extra time to get the hang of it.

Sorry for not giving you a simple solution, but at least an answer and some tips on the way.

all the best

Lisa
