Deactivated users in JIRA

Recently we deactivated some users from JIRA and they moved out from team. These users are present as watcher on many issues. Now whenever I try to make any changes to issue, I get an error "users do not have access to browse this issue". Then I have to remove all deactivated users from the list of watchers, and then save changes again.

Is there any way I can get around this problem.

If you are hosting your own JIRA instance, you can try running a reindex and the database integrity checker over your database. I have examined our bug reporting system, and depending on your JIRA version or whether you are on the hosted version, there are some known issues that are close to what you are reporting. If that still doesn't work, please log a support ticket at support.atlassian.com.
