Hi,
I have a couple of questions on time units;
From what I can see the Default Time Unit setting is Global i.e. across all projects and Time Units can't be overridden for an individual project - is that correct?
I'm on a site where the Default Time Unit is set to hours, I need to change it back to Minutes to work with a 3rd party app. What are the real-world implications of doing this for existing projects as we use hours for all our billing and time tracking?
Many thanks.
Andrew
hello @Andy Collier ,
TIme tracking default settings are only set globally from the issue feature settings.
When time tracking is used in jira worklog will be recorded based on what has been defined.
I you change you settings, existing issue time tracking will be converted to the new set
regards
Hi Serge,
Thank you for the reply.
So as I understand it, as it's just a default value, if I enter 5 and the default is hours it will be 5h and if I enter 5 and the default is minutes it will be 5m.
However if I enter 5h and the default is minutes, it will still accept it as 5h.
If I change the settings I'm assuming only new data will be affected and then only the default as under the skin JIRA does everything in minutes anyway (I believe). Do you know if that is the case?
Many thanks.
Andrew

I would say make your own test is the best .
Remeber that tiime tracking is not only mention in the field but also as a Work log history.

base on my test if I have H set first for time tracking.
Then I add 5 in original estimate field, display is show 5h
If I edit it will display 5h
Then if I change to minute and refresh my ticket, it stays to previous 5h time
If I edit the ticket and change to 6, then it save it to 6m
