Default text in issue creation

Is there a way to add default text in the description field when an issue is created?  We want to have a template for what belongs in the description field.

Good feedback.  I will discuss this with my team and consider making the custom fields.  Makes sense.

I still think there is merit in pre-filling some fields with a boilerplate but it is more correct to separate out the data fields you want to collect.

You could use Scriptrunner for Jira's Behaviors for that.
