Defining a form with 300 plus custom fields

Pravin_Mukhedkar March 5, 2019

I would like to create a form with 300+ fields. It will be a plain form with no validations on fields. Users will be either entering data or selecting using check boxes / dropdowns. Can I create another issue type for this? I do not want to go for confluence as this is one time requirement and I want to confirm if this can be achieved using JiRA.

Hi Pravin

One of your options is to consider using ProForma Lite (it is a free app available in the marketplace ) that allows you to build a form within Jira.  You will have the flexibility to use dynamic sections to make the form easier to use.  To be upfront, I am from Proforma.

Many thanks.

You can make Jira do this off-the-shelf, and yes, use a new issue type for it, as that means you can put the 300 on that issue type alone.

But bear in mind that a 300-field form usually means "broken process" - no-one wants to fill in a 300 field form, and humans will instinctively fill in as little as possible and/or actively work around your process to avoid doing it.

I agree with the observation. I am planning to break these in different sections / issue types / or a agreeable work around. As of now, I use excel which has 5-7 worksheets in that and people do update it.

Thanks
