Deleting Scrum Board with Active Sprints?

Hello,

I have a request to delete unused scrum boards, but when I do that, a big scary message says the board contains active sprints. My question is, what will happen if I Delete the board with Active Sprints? The team still needs the sprints to stay active, but they don't need the board.
