Depricating Issue Links

Hello,

I recently merged 2 Jira cloud instances together and we now have a lot of custom Linking Issue types.

We have a lot of tickets, new and closed, that used some issue links I would like to deprecate/hide so they are no longer selected.  Unfortunately the only option is to edit or delete them.

Does anyone know of a way to hide all the un-needed issue links?

Not possible.

If I were you, as a cheap workaround I would rename the link from:

Depends on

to something like:

🚫 DEPRECATED: Depends on

Of course, it is still possible to create a link of this type, but I guess a good name will discourage your people doing so.

This will work, it's going to look very awkward with 25 DEPRICATED and 6 you can choose from.

Also, when working globally many do not know what "deprecated" means and selects them anyway.

In native Jira it is not possible to hide unwanted link types, there is a suggestion in JAC to be able to do it, JRACLOUD-16325, but based on the latest update it is unlikely that we will see this implemented anytime soon. Your workaround would be to use an app like Scriptrunner to do this. I bet some of the other script apps in the Marketplace can do this too.

Thanks for that pointer to that issue.  Issue links per project would be great but I was looking for something a bit different.  I just want to hide links I don't want people to use anymore.

In general so many issues are voted on by customers that never get resolved.
Atlassian would rather move navigation from the top of the screen to the left column, or start renaming menu items instead of when we need to do our jobs. None of these really help.

Hi Chuck,

I am not aware of a way to do anything other than Edit or Delete unfortunately.
