Do I need to estimate to use Portfolio?

I am trying to get a long term view of my backlog - essentially, I want to see my different initiatives spanning amounts of time that I set with start and end dates that I set. Do I need to do a bottoms up estimation in order to do this?

Hi @Glynnis Kearney,

Portfolio needs some kind of estimation or scheduling mechanism in order to calculate the schedule and demand.

If you have some (or all) items in your plan unestimated, you can use one of the following methods to work around that:

• use default estimates for the story / epic / initiative levels
• use target dates
• use custom dates
