It's regarding my official JIRA, I am able to add/delete comment from the JIRA portal, but when I am using JIRA REST API to add a comment, I am getting 403 Forbidden error.

I checked though my personal Atlassian account, and it worked smoothly, I was able to add comments easily to my tickets.

Can anyone suggest, are permissions for JIRA portal and JIRA REST API separate, if yes, then what permission shall I ask my JIRA admin to provide to me ?

Apologies in advance, it could be a stupid question. ;-)

The JIRA version on server is 8.20.15.

I am logged into my official JIRA via Azure AD login, that's the corporate login (SSO).

Now, we have to do some migration, and update each ticket with a comment, so, we though REST API will be the best one.

any suggestions ?

Regards

Hello @Ankur Sharma ,

Welcome to community!

Could you please validate if you are running the correct api call of server.

I am sharing the API endpoint for server below :

Hi @Himanshi : Yes for my personal Atlassian account, I was able to use API same way as adding a comment from GUI, it was all working smooth.

I had problem with my professional JIRA account, I had add comment access from JIRA UI, but when I was adding comment from API, it was blocked and I was getting 403.

Well, problem resolved now, as JIRA admin has shared some new temporary credentials with us to use for API work, and we tested, it worked fine.

Thank you so much for reply.

Have an awesome day ahead. :-)
