I am trying to link a Jira project to a gthub repo, I have done this before but this time it is asking me for an organisation. Is there anyway to do this without being part of an organisation, so that I can practice smart commits etc?
Hi @Sharris3 , welcome to the Atlassian Community Forums!
I am not aware of a requirement that Jira can only connect to Organizations on Github.
Which connector are you using? The old DVCS Connector or the new GitHub for Jira app?
The old DVCS Connector was announced as deprecated back in 2018 (https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-articles/Everything-you-need-to-know-about-migrating-from-the-DVCS/ba-p/945910)
Here's a screenshot of connecting the GitHub for Jira app to a Personal Github account:

@Christopher Maxwell I am using the new Github for Jira app. When I go to add a repo to my project board it shows I have the app installed, but when I elect add a repo it says I need on organisation to grant access, as in the screenshots below:

Hi @Sharris3 ,
That helps - thanks.
I checked with my resources and did not hear back anything further.
Upon additional research it does appear to me that an update was made which requires an organization. I would have preferred to get some info from Jira, but the best I've found so far is this external link: https://github.com/atlassian/github-for-jira/issues/1619
