We just notice this recently. When you move ABC-123 to DEF project, all the history are all recreated again, and nothing was log as "this ticket has been moved". Which is confusing to the reporter of the ticket, or whoever follow the ticket since there is nothing that shows who move this ticket (and while that is restricted to certain users, still you dont know from the history as you would for anything else). Additionall, having the history being recreate all over again kinda lost the whole history of the ticket.
Am I missing something or is there a reason for the move to act this way?
Thanks in advance!
Um, no, it records the old project key (and sequence) and the new one, with a person's name, and the date/time they did it. It doesn't recreate anything, you simply have an exact history of who changed what and when. It just happens that move is recorded as "key changed" instead of "move"
ah, i didnt scroll down!!! I thought the latest updates is on top...Anyway, now i see the changes. Thanks, Nic!

We run JIRA 4.3.4. Moving an issue between projects changes the issuekey and this change is recorded in the History tab as:
User Name made changes - Jan/30/2012 17:00
Project First project name Second project name
Key FIRST-1 SECOND-1
The history is retained from the First to the Second project as the History shows the change of the Project/Key. Nothing is recreated.
