Does Jira Require Android 14?

Alan Schunemann August 26, 2025

Was a new Jira policy added recently, I'm no longer able to load the Jira app on my Android Phone, it says it requires Android 14 to use Jira.  My phone is a Galaxy Note 10, it runs Android 12, Samsung has not released any updates past that version.  Can we confirm there's no workaround?  All software updates have been applied.

Same issue here, from one day to the next one of our users can no longer use his Galaxy s20 with Android 13, docs are now just wrong and there's no explanation anywhere from Atlassian.

Hi @Alan Schunemann Welcome to the community.  I was going to ditto @Benjamin as I found the same page.

As you're the Product Admin, you could always contact Atlassian Support to see if that page is out of date.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Dan, that was the first thing I did:

Currently, there is no documented workaround for using the Jira Cloud mobile app on Android versions below the required minimum (such as Android 12, if the app now requires Android 14). All software updates on your device being applied does not bypass this requirement. If your device cannot be updated to Android 14 due to manufacturer limitations, the app will not be accessible on that device.

This is one of our very important project leads who - all of a sudden - can't access Jira on his up-to-date Samsung phone. This is unacceptable!

How does one talk to a human? For the money we spend on this product, I should have some real support for a mission-critical application.

I found the answer! The Samsung device is no longer supported by Samsung, so OS updates aren't available!:

No, there is no workaround to continue using the Jira app on your Galaxy Note 10 with Android 12, as Samsung has discontinued support for that device and Atlassian requires a newer Android version than the one on your phone. You will need to upgrade to a newer phone to access the Jira app, as even with all available software updates, your phone's operating system is too old to support the current app version.

Hi @Alan Schunemann,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

This is a question for your Atlassian admin, they may have created/updated a Mobile app policy that requires Android 14 in order to access Jira. These policies is something that is controlled by customers, it not something that Atlassian controls.

We (I) didn't change anything, so I'm confused. Thanks

HI @Alan Schunemann ,

Welcome! There hasn't been anything mention in the docs.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-android/docs/support-for-app-versions-and-operating-systems/

Still mention 10 or higher.
