When I am creating a Sub-Task ticket in JIRA, the problem that I am having is when I paste a block of text to the Description block that has single spacing between the lines, JIRA will change it to double spacing. Is there a setting that I can modify to reduce the double spacing issue. Having to go back and remove the double spacing is a real pain and very time consuming.
In July 2023 this is still an issue.
Vote to get it fixed here in the Jira list of things users would like fixed:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-75312
The control + Enter workaround has an effect but still does not narrow the line spacing much.
It is also clunky, needs to be done on every line.

Hi @Andrew Wynn ,
Is it possible that you have a separate field configuration scheme for the subtask issue types that uses a different field config than all the other issue types?
Check the field configuration that you are using to see what the renderer type is on the Description field; if it is different than the type for other field configurations that is probably the culprit.

Good Morning Scott,
I am a new user to the JIRA process. In your reply above you mentioned checking the render type for the field. I understand what you are say, but where within the JIRA format do I find this option.

My source document is a block of text in a Microsoft word doc. I use several generic statements for all of the tickets that I write in JIRA and I keep them in Word. When I create a straight bug ticket it works as expected. Only seems to happen with a Sub-task ticket.

Okay, that's kinda weird. I'll see what I can find out. What version are you using?

Scott, If I type my text straight into the description block the double space issue does not occur. Just a little strange. I use the Sub-task process a lot, the company that I work for develops training simulations and this is the process that we use to track what sim we are working on. Any help u can provide will be very helpful

Hi @Andrew Wynn ,
Does the same thing happen if you paste the block of text into a different issue type, or is it just for sub-tasks? Where are you copying the text from?
If it is happening with every type my initial thought is that the source material is causing it. If you are not using Word for the source material try pasting it there and seeing if it is double or single spaced. You can also use the "Show Formatting" button in Word to see if there are any hard returns.
If it is just happening with sub-tasks I'll dig a little deeper, but so far I've not been able to replicate it in my test system.
