We are getting hammered with duplicate emails. If someone changes anything in a ticket e.g. status, comment, etc.. I receive 6+ emails tell me joe change status from x to y.... That is the same exact email sent 6+ times... Very frustrating...
This is happening with other members of the team as well...
It was working fine and all of a sudden it just started sending duplicate emails - nothing changed to trigger that. very strange!!!
It's not doing it anymore... Not sure what happened but it stopped.
Also, check your Notifications and whether the notifications are being sent to multiple groups and the same people are in these groups.

This issue related with the response time of smtp server you configured.
If the response time is less than the timeout value of the smtp configuration, that will be OK.
But if the response time greater than the timeout value then this issue might reproduing.
So I think the timeout value should be changed to larger.
