Hi all,

We are looking to create a duplicate of our Kanban Board which we can restrict access to rather than the original which is open to most users to add/create/update issues or tickets.

The duplicated board will be limited to just 4-5 users that can add comments and to make our own prioritisations, this should not be visible to the rest of the business.

We would want the duplicate to show any updates from the original board.

I'm not sure if tis is possible or not, it sounds like a big ask.

Hi @Kate F Nicholson and welcome to the Community!

Boards are a visualisation of work items that are in reality stored inside a project. Permissions to manipulate those work items are controlled inside that project, not from the board. You can effectively grant different permissions to different users inside that project and thus achieve the outcome you describe, which is to ensure:

  • that some users can create/edit work items
  • that other users can only view/comment on them

You will not even need a second board, as users will only be able to do what they are allowed by the underlying project permissions.

For more information on managing project permissions, see this support article

Hope this helps!
