Hi I have a text field  (Non Numeric field)  with names of city  but want to hightlight different color for the cell that dont have any values.

Since this is not a numeric field , if I try to leave the Min or Max as blank then it colors all the Cells.

Use the Regular Expression condition with "^$" as your expression.  That will match empty cells.

Hi,

I think you should set both the min and max fields to the same value (the exact string) to color these cells.

Cheers,

Tanya

Thanks Tanya

The problem is there are so many City names, I dont want to start write rules for each City to give one color and then the last rule to leave it as blank for min and max so it can be set for red color.

I want one short way to set a rule with min and max so that all blank (i.e no city name) to show in red color.

Hi!

While there is no direct way to say "color empty cells", you may color non-empty cells (as Tanya said), then color the rest (empty). You may want to use the following approach:

  1. Set the first condition with the min value A and max value ZZ (so it would include all words from A to Z). Imagine that letter A is treated as 0 and each consecutive letter is treated as a larger number.
  2. Then set empty min and max values for the second condition: it would color all other cells (the empty ones).

See screenshot with the example of those conditions below:
