Email Directly to an Issue or Case based on To Address

Is it possible to have Jira tag comments to issues from emails where the to address is the issue number?

For example:

If the issue number is SUP-10345

Then I would email sup-10345@jira.mycompany.com

It would then add the comment to that issue and notify all watched parties/participants.

On the flip side to that, can it also send it's notifications from that email address?

I'm already set up with different to addresses for projects, but I'm interested in doing it by issue number as well. This way, email communication can still go to internal parties without exposing their direct emails. It would also be useful to forward emails received directly to an existing issue.

@Johnny Moore, Comment will get tagged to issues if the Issue key is in the Subject.

Unless I'm missing something obvious, this does not work. I forward an email to the service desk and enter the Issue Key as the Subject line, and it just creates a new Service Desk issue with the Issue Key as the Summary of the new issue.

Does this actually work, or am I missing something obvious?
