Today, I noticed an unusual occurrence on my Jira project boards. Adjacent to the assignee image on the card, there appears to be an empty square box. The box began appearing only today, and I'm uncertain about its purpose. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Jonathan - Welcome to that Atlassian Community!
Have you tried with different browsers to see if it is there in all of them?
Also, what type of project is this? Jira Software? Jira Work Management? Is it Team-managed? Company-managed?
Yes - checked on Safari and Chrome. Jira Software that's company managed. This is being observed by others in my organization, not just me. Oddly enough, the boxes disappeared off the cards from one of my boards (replaced with priority...although I'm not sure where this is coming from), but remain on the two others (different projects). I checked the Card Layout and each of them are the same.

This morning, I randomly opened one of the tickets from the board where the boxes disappeared. I was reviewing the history on the ticket and came across a name I was unfamiliar with. I looked this person up in my company's directory, but couldn't find him. I searched his name on Google and found his LinkedIn. Turns out, he's a senior dev at Atlassian. The mystery continues!

We opened a ticket with Atlassian support which accounts for the Engineer showing up in History. Issue was resolved by adding Priority Schemes to Projects without one.

@Jonathan Danial this could be due to a variety of reasons, and without more information
It's possible that a recent customization or configuration change was made to your Jira project boards that introduced this empty square box. Check with your Jira administrator
bugs or issues may arise as a result of software updates or changes to the Jira platform
f your Jira instance is integrated with other tools or if you're using any third-party add-ons, the empty square box could be related to an integration or add-on issue. Check the settings

No changes within my organization. Could this be related to turning AI for Jira on this past weekend?

@Jonathan Danial yes that might be the reason but we cannot say 100% unless we know what others things are introduce
