Evaluating AGILE JIRA, difference between Workflow and Workflow Schemes?

Hi, I know this is a very basic question to the forumers out here but was evaluating AGILE JIRA and came across Workflow and Workflow Schemes, could someone please tell me how they are related and if so, how they are linked? It surely doesn't look like there is a relation though they are grouped under Workflows?

Workflow Scheme= Assign a workflow to issue types in context to a project

Workflow=set of statuses and transitions an issue goes through

A workflow is exactly as you say - a map of a process built of status and transitions. The workflow scheme is how you tell a project which workflows to use. Many people use a 1:1, where all issues in the project use a single workflow, but the scheme let's you say "for bugs, use workflow 1, for features use workflow 6 and workflow 9 for all other types"
