Good morning,
is there a possible solution in order to highlight during Issue Search the link between a Task and a Sub-task created directly from the Task itself?
In practical words: I would like to highlight the connection between all the sub tasks created from a task, also during a Issues Search (or a a filter).
Can you help me, please?
Thanks
Amedeo
I created a custom field "parent summary" and I fill this with addons like JMCF, automation or scriptrunner.
Then I show it in the issue search columns

I used automation or JMCF, but you can use the tool that you may already have bought
Not sure if the automation is still free in the basic version for jira server

yes, we have Project Automation, but how did you set up yours?
Which kind of field you used in order to fill in the custom field parent summary?

create a new custom field "ParentSummary"
show it (no edit) in tasks and subtask
create automation rule on parent task edit, that it copies the summary into the new field ParentSummary

Jira does not record how an issue was created, so no, you can't run a search that will report on where a sub-task was created from.
But you can tie sub-tasks to their parents, as @Alexander Pappert has described. Obviously, I do it with Scriptrunner, but I wanted to add that the best way to do it is include the new field on the parent issues too, so that you can search and sort and find the parent issue included.

Hi @Amedeo , I see someone here recommended JMCF. It's a third-party paid app to be clear, but if you are unable to solve the issue natively, it's worth looking into for custom field calculations. If I understood your use case correctly, the 'Calculate and display the assignees of the sub-tasks on the parent issue.' should fit the bill, see steps here.

hi @Sergejs Cuhrajs _Appfire_ ,
thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately we don't have JMCF, so I think I have to search for a different approach/solution to solve my issue.
Thanks anyway

Hi Amedeo,
Pretty much all sub-tasks must be created from the parent. What is it that you are trying to solve for?

Hi @John Funk ,
I try to explain better my request.
In the Issues Search view I can highlight the Epic Link as a column in the visualization.
Is there a similar "field/column" where I can view the name of the (parent) Task when I visualize the sub-tasks?
See the image attached for an explanation.
Thanks
Amedeo

Ah, definitely not Cloud then. And here is another post in which the user also cannot add the Parent field.
