Is it possible with the core JIRA Cloud product (i.e. no Marketplace add on required) to use the Excel and JIRA integration to update JIRA issues from the Excel spreadsheet?
Thank you
David Tieman
Integrating Jira & Excel is not so simple as you would think, with fields, context, permissions etc... it can get quite complex.
I was in the team behind the app: Excel 365 Connector whch allowed Jira <=> Excel communication, you can check it here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1222961/excel-365-connector-for-jira?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
Hey @David Tieman This isn't possible without an app (not a plugin/add-on) like ours (Visor) or a marketplace plugin.
Also, FYI using Jira data in Excel can be really troublesome and frustrating.
Our app (Visor) - which is not an add-on but an app that has a two-way Jira integration - would be a better solution for you.
Visor has a spreadsheet view that maintains your issue hierarchy, nesting, and relationships in tact from Jira, which Excel is unable to do.
Visor's Table view gives you a smart spreadsheet that's purpose built to work with Jira data, enabling you to easily view, manage, update, analyze, and share real-time Jira project/portfolio data.
You can push updates to/from Jira-Visor in a single click and you can share real-time views with stakeholders that don't have Jira access too.
The spreadsheet/Table view is included in our fully-free plan, so I highly recommend you give it a try:
Hope that helps!
Mike

Hello @David Tieman
No, you can only export into Excel from Jira.
To import into Jira there is an Import Excel method that is available only for admins.
see: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/import-data-from-a-csv-file/
