Exporting updates from Atlassian Goals

Lesley Yu May 1, 2025

Can we export goals updates (and be able to select the fields) into a CSV or similar? This makes the updates easier to share within an organization (than clicking individual goals).

Hi @Lesley Yu

We have export for goals and projects (see screenshot) but not for updates specifically. We might expand this functionality in the future.

I'd love to understand your use case better so I can share it as feedback with the team. Let's say you could export updates, how would you share them within your organisation?

We want to have the updates rolled up in one page for management to review. It's not efficient to ask them to click through 8-10 different goals to see the updates. Being able to create a monthly report of all relevant goals is really important for adoption of this tool.

Thanks, we've heard this feedback before. I'll add it to our tracker internally

In the meantime some workaround that could help you

1. Management can follow the goals they're interested in (or you can add them as followers yourself). That way they'll get a goal digest sent to their email every week on Monday. They will also get just that week's update when visiting the goal app. They can scroll through the updates (no need to click into each goal) or press `r` when reading the updates and get into "reading mode" which will let them focus on one update at a time

2. If you also use Confluence you can copy and paste individual updates into a page and create that rolled up view. The links should resolve as Smartlinks and will remain up to date even if the update gets edited

Let me know if this helps or if you have any more questions!

I'm in Atlassian Goals, which is different from Jira. Can you help direct my request to the right team please?

HI Lesley,

Sorry, saw the post was in Jira and labled Jira Cloud.

Most of the Goals related post are located in Atlassian Home which can be found in the the drop down product Q & A. Would recommend placing your post there.

I did look a the documentation. I could not find an export option. Perhaps using a one of the view like a dashboard or smart link list will help and then export it to a PDF on the browser.

Here's the documentation:

HI @Lesley Yu ,

If the goals are place in a field in a work item/ issue, you should be able to pull the list into a CSV from the search.

Here's the Atlassian documentation guide:

https://support.atlassian.com/automation/kb/how-to-export-issues-from-jira-cloud-in-csv-format/

Instead of select all field, just use the selected fields option.
