Fate of WebWork in JIRA?

A coworker was telling me that he was reading that the WebWork framework was going to be deprecated within JIRA soon. I cannot find said documentation. Has anyone heard if Atlassian is planning on killing the webwork framework for plugin developers?

Well most add-ons use servlets rather than WebWork and have done for years. But there is a lot of JIRA still using WebWork - search for actions.xml with 2692 lines, 378 actions
