Figma for Jira designs disappear upon reopening Jira task page or modal

The Figma for Jira app/integration stopped working for me yesterday (and once before in, I think, January 2025). In Jira I click "Add Design" and paste the link copied from the Figma desktop app just as I always have. The designs load w/ the embedded preview, but upon closing the modal or page and navigating back to it, the designs are gone. Sometimes they flash for a millisecond before disappearing. Clicking Expand in Jira doesn't show them either.

This also happened about 6 months ago, however a coworker who is a Jira admin and I were able to get it working again. Both times, we navigated in Jira to where you can manage the configuration and the team was disconnected. We tried reconnecting and then tried adding designs but it didn't work today. We then disconnected the team to remove it and then added the integration using the figma Team link from the desktop app. It showed as connected, but still resulted in the same problem re: adding designs. Instructions we followed were here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/integrate-figma-with-jira/

Can you please provide steps to resolve this? I also reached out to Figma however their auto-response said that if it's occurring within Jira, to reach out to you.

Thank you!

Hi @Matt Cutler you may want to try using Figma for Jira Pro. This app embeds an SVG of the Figma design in your Jira ticket and only shows the image file without additional logic. So it won't disappear.

It also means you get version control; instead of the designs auto-updating whenever there's a change in Figma, the current version gets pinned to the Jira ticket with Figma for Jira Pro.

The Figma for Jira native app, on the other hand, loads a lite version of Figma within the Jira ticket before you can see designs. So there's more scope for things to go wrong.

Another advantage of Figma for Jira Pro is that you don't have to log in to Figma (therefore you don't need a license). Because the embed is an SVG, it's viewable by anyone who has access to the ticket.

Full disclosure: I work for CollabSoft, who are the vendors of Figma for Jira Pro.

The reason we made the app was to enable Jira users to access Figma designs without licenses, with full version control and faster loading.
