Filters in Jira Plan are not applying to issues in the lower levels of the hierarchy

I have a Jira plan that includes work in 4 levels of a hierarchy (Story, Epic, Initiative, Parent Initiative). I have work across several teams that are being pulled into this view, and I want to create a view for "refinement" so I can quickly find work regardless of the team I'm interacting with. To do this, I am trying to apply a filter on status to only display work in progress or not started. It appears that these filters are applying top-down and are not applying all the way down to the Story (or Epic level in some cases).

Is there a work around for this?

Hi @Sarah Green,

I hope you may have found the solution in the meantime. I believe the apparent inconsistency you experience is caused by enabling the check box 'Show full hierarchy' in your filter settings.

This is meant to overcome inconsistent representation of the hierarchy tree, but may lead to work items being shown that do not match your filter criteria.

Hope this helps!

@Sarah Green

ScriptRunner by any chance?

You can use in your JQL issueFunction in portfoliochildrenof(subquery)

You can read more about it here

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Fadoua
