FixVersion not showing up in Issue Details

Mateo Eidson September 11, 2024

Hi,

I have Releases enabled for my project under project settings. When navigating to my Story I don't see 'Fix Version' in my Issues Details sidebar (right side). When selecting the Configure icon I do see Fix Version prioritized within the Context Fields. What do I need to do to make FixVersion show up for my stories within the Details sidebar?

------New Update on 09/12/24-------

Since my original post I've learned a little more about Release Versions while using Kanban boards. (link)

If I show the Version panel (1) and try to drag my story into the version I want (2) I get a permissions error (3). My hypothesis is that since this isn't working then Fix Version will never show up on my issues. I have confirmed that I am administrator for this board so I'm still stuck on what the problem is. Does this shed any more light on the problem?

I have solved my issue. The role I was assigned (Administrator) did not have the Resolve Issues permissions assigned to it. To fix this I did the following...

Project Settings >> Permissions >> Actions >> Edit Permissions >> Resolve Issues (Configure). From here I added the Administrator role to this Permission level.

Once this was completed my Stories and Tasks showed the FixVersion as expected (based on the field configurations previously configured). I can now drag Stories into a Version using the Version Panel as described here.

Good afternoon, @Mateo Eidson

Check if this field is added to the Screen related to your issue.

It needs to be both on the Screen and configured on the Issue Layout to be displayed.

Thanks!

Gear Icon >> Issues >> Screens >> Support Ticket Kanban Default Issues Screen >>Configure also contains Fix Versions under a 'General' tab (no other tabs exist at this time as expected)

Project Settings >> Support Ticket project >> Issues >> Layout >> Edit issue layout contains Fix Version (along with other items that like Assignee, Reporter label, etc. that ARE displayed in my screen)

So that doesn't seem to help at this time.

Hi @Mateo Eidson

Welcome to the community :)

As we understand the release is enabled, and the field is added correctly in all screens, issue layout and fields(not hidden).

Could you please try below and check once

- Please Project Settings >> Support Ticket project >> Issues >> Layout >> Edit issue layout Move the fix versions field from the context to description field section and save the layout and see if you able to see the field now in issue view

- Please validate if you have edit permission in the project

If both are set and still not able to view that please reach out https://support.atlassian.com/ for further investigation

Thank YOu,

Prachi

Hi @Mateo Eidson Welcome to the community!
Please Verify "Field Configuration" and Ensure that the "Fix Version field" is included in this configuration and is not hidden.
Also, Ensure that the Fix Version field is added to the appropriate screens (like the Create, Edit, and View screens).

Under Gear>>Issues>>Field Configurations>>Default Field Configuration>>Configure, I can see that 8 projects share this screen configuration (including my Project Called 'Support Tickets'). I can also see that Fix Versions is not hidden and has a screen assignment called 'ST Kanban Default Issues Screen'. This looks OK to me.

Hi, @Mateo Eidson. As you said, you checked the field, screen, and layout, and everything is set correctly on your end.
You can Check Field Context and Ensure that the context for the "Fix Versions" field includes your project's "Story" issue type. (screenshot below)

Also, you can check my quick loom for further navigation and ensure fix version is included there.  https://www.loom.com/share/f3541f1759d147a9b3957927961c2308

Hope this will help you! If not, please reach out to Atlassian support.

For me that option only appears for custom fields. Fix Versions is a default field. I've added some new info to this thread that might shed some light on the problem. It doesn't appear like I have permissions to set the version. See the updated main thread. Thanks!
