Formatting Status overview in project summary

would like to limit the status overview widget to New, To Do, In Progress, and Complete

Hi,

If you're referring to the Summary page within the project board (where the Status Overview appears), that widget pulls its data based on the board's filter query.

To limit the statuses shown (only New, To Do, In Progress, and Complete), you'll need to update the board filter so it only includes issues with those statuses. 
You can do that by:

1. Going to the board setting
2. Click on Filter Query (edit)
3. Modify the JQL to include:
   •  Project = ABC and status in ("New", "To Do", "In Progress", "Complete")
