Gantt-Chart plugin AJAX based request denied

Recently we have installed a gantt-chart plugin but so far we were not able to get it to work. Our JIRA instance is behind a reverse proxy. Our proxy is using HTTPS while JIRA is on HTTP. This is a supported configuration and described thoroughly in the documentation. All the other plugin work just fine, however Gantt-Chart gives as the following error message:

Security aspect:

You are not allowed to request content from within the JIRA Gantt-Chart gadget, most likely due to your same-origin-policy!

AJAX-based request to https://portal/jira/ is denied.
Please contact your administrator.

Are you using apache in front of Jira?

Yes, we do use Apache in front of JIRA as a reverse proxy
