Get a Nested Dashboard with Projects>Initiatives>Epics>User Stories in Jira

Somsubhra Banerjee March 15, 2023

Hi All,

Hope everyone's doing well and staying safe.

I have received this request from the stakeholders to get a report where:-

1. It'll show the Project name>the multiple initiatives under it>the multiple epics under it>the multiple user stories under it

2. Along with 1, each of them shall have rows with some numbers/status/health(red/green/yellow), basically some kind of data.

Please could anyone guide me on how to achieve this above request? Would be of great help. We don't have permission to use paid add-ins too.

Thanks so much in advance.

Best regards,

Som

Hi @Somsubhra Banerjee ,

welcome to the community.

What license plan of Jira are you using? If you are using Premium you can use advanced roadmaps for this.

If not, there is no way (without apps) to create this kind of visual.
To create an extra hierarchy level above Epic (initiative), you need Advanced Roadmaps.

A Jira dashboard won't show issue hierarchies if you don't use apps.

Hello @Tessa Tuteleers ,

Thanks so much for your quick and kind reply.

We have the enterprise edition of Jira. So, I guess it is a premium one?

Could you kindly let me know how to use the advanced roadmaps feature to get the above report?

Also, what apps(free) would you suggest in order to get it?

Thanks a lot, again for helping out!

Best regards,

Som

Hi @Somsubhra Banerjee ,

Do you have access to the DB for Jira via MSSQL?

If so - i can share some codes with you to achieve the hierarchy view as well as the other components you are looking for.

Thanks
