Hello,
I try to add a feature to a structure but get the message:
You have creaded issue xxxxxx. It was impossible to add it to the structure because of the automation installed. Cannot add items to JQL query result. You can enable manual adjustments in the structure configuration.
What does this mean and how to resolve this?
Greetings,
Peter Kiers
So there are two types of structures manual and automated, You can toggle a setting to allow manual override on an automated structure but I recommend that you identify why the issue you are trying to add is not being picked by the structure filter or what ever you defined in the sync when you setup the structure.
In your structure click the drop down arrow next to the name of the structure and select Manage Structure
When you get to that screen you will see the Sync With option and click the Settings link. This is where you can turn off the automation and you will also see what type of automation is configured..Filter, Issue Links, etc...just remove it by clicking on the Operation option on the right side of the screen.
If you don't want to remove the automation go back a screen to the Manage Structure and click the Configure link on the right side of the screen. You will see an option on that page as follows and you check that box.
Allow manual adjustments of generated content
A couple of things to note. If you turn off automation it will not impact the structure but it will no longer pull in new issues based on the criteria you used.
If you leave automation enabled and you toggle the manual override on when you manually add an issue and at some point that issue meets the automation criteria you will end up with duplicate issues in your structure...
Hope this helps..
Hello Peter,
The message indicates that the created issue doesn't match one of the existing generator's queries in your structure. The generators - Automation feature - allows to build and organize structures according to user-defined rules. In such structures, only actions such as adding/moving of items can be supported if they don't contradict existing rules.

In your case, it is likely that the newly created issue was created somewhere in the list of issues that were added by an Insert generator. And since the created issue didn't match the existing rule, the error message was shown(although the issue itself was created in Jira nonetheless, it was just not added to the structure).
Also, please note that the feature in question is called Automation and Synchronizers - the feature that was mentioned by Andrew earlier - is a different one which is also used to build structures automatically. Both features can be used for similar purposes, but there is quite a few differences between them. Synchronizers are no longer available as a basic feature and we recommend using generators only.
And as for the Manual Adjustments feature - it indeed allows changing structures in ways that are not supported by their generators. But we only advise using this feature as an exception in cases when the structure can't be built otherwise in the desired way. Manual Adjustments can also cause a lot of confusion because of the placement of the adjusted issues since it doesn't match the structure's configuration.
Please feel free to reach out to us directly if you need help building your structure or with anything else via support.almworks.com. We'll be glad to assist you.

Stepan Kholodov
