Getting parent isssue on sub-task creation

Hi all,

I am trying to modify the description template placed in the description box for the user to edit when creating a subtask based on the Issue Type of the parent issue. The problem is that I cannot seem to find a way to access the parent issue while creating the sub-task. Is there a way to do so?

In automation rule???   First create subtask copying content of description field. Then write the code to append the description field.

No, sorry, maybe I formulated the question wrong. I already wrote the code to insert the custom description template in the editable description box ON CREATION of the subtask (not after it's already created), but I want to change that template depending on the Issue Type of the parent issue
