Hey,

I'm looking for a way to give our clients limited access to our jira project.

This means -

* They will be able to see specific issues only (issues that are assigned to them)

* They can comment and change the status of an issue

Thanks

To achieve limited client access to your Jira Cloud project with the specified requirements, you can follow these steps:

  1. Create a New Permission Scheme:

    • In Jira, navigate to "Issues" > "Permission Schemes."
    • Create a new permission scheme specifically for client access.
  2. Configure Issue Visibility: Issue security scheme

    • Define a new security level (e.g., "Client Access") under "Issues" > "Security."
    • Associate this security level with the specific issues you want clients to access.
  3. Adjust Browse Project Permission: Project permission

    • In your new permission scheme, adjust the "Browse Project" permission to grant access only to the relevant users or groups.
    • You may need to create a new group for your clients and add them to this group.
  4. Assign Permission Scheme to Project:

    • Associate the newly created permission scheme with your Jira Cloud project.
    • Go to "Project Settings" > "Permissions" and assign the new permission scheme to your project.
  5. Grant Comment and Status Change Permissions:

    • Ensure that the client group has the necessary permissions to comment on issues and change their status.
    • In the permission scheme, grant the "Comment on Issues" and "Transition Issues" permissions to the client group.
  6. Test the Configuration:

    • Assign a test issue to a client and verify that they can see only their assigned issues.
    • Confirm that they can comment on issues and change the status as intended.

By following these steps, you should be able to restrict client access to specific issues, allowing them to comment and change the status of those issues within your Jira Cloud project.

Please be aware that this answer, whilst broadly correct, was written by an AI, and a lot of the detail in it is wrong, because generative AI does not understand your question or how Jira works.

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist-  besides what AI answered... can we do what Mor asked if we have a Free Plan version of JIRA?  I think we cant.

1) There´s a limit for the amount of users in JIRA´s Free Plan (10 users). We already are 9 people in the company. So we wouldnt have much room left to create users for  our clients. Right?

2) On the other half, in the FreePlan I dont see we are able to configure Permission Schemes. Right?

Thanks
