Has anybody used the post function "Add option to cascading select."

David Gregg November 13, 2011

"Add option to cascading select." suggests that it can copy the value of a simple text custom field to the second level of the Cascading Select LoV.

The first and second configuration steps are clear but the third does not give the correct list to choose the 1st level values. It displays all customer fields rather than the values of the 1st level of the specified Cascading Select list.

Has anybody else encountered this? how did you fix it? and is there a similar option to add values to the 1st level?

Alternatively is there an alternative plugin to build Cascading Select lists - idealy upto 3 levels.

Thanks

Okay, after trying many different senarios I have worked out how to populate the 2nd level of the Cascading Select custom field with this "Add option to cascading select." post function.

Firstly, you need a normal Single Select field populated with the same values as the 1st level Cascading Select field and a Customer Text Field to capture the new 2nd level value.

You then need a screen/workflow to choose the 1st level value, to add the value in the free text field to.

I would still like to know if there is a similar option to add values to the 1st level?

And is there an alternative plugin to build 3 levels of Cascading Select lists?
