Hide areas of the standard issue mask

Ingo Schult June 18, 2019

Is it possible to hide areas of the standard issue mask. So far I have only found a way to add or remove fields.

Sorry for the inaccurate description of my concern. I want to hide the color-coded area but without manipulating CSS / JavaScript.

Hi Ingo,

I understand you are looking to hide something within Jira.  However I am somewhat confused by what you mean when you say 'issue mask'.   I'm not sure what that means exactly.   I gather that you have found a way to hide issue fields in Jira from the view of the users and so I take it you are looking to hide something on an issue view in Jira server.

So perhaps you are looking to hide some other elements within Jira.  It might be possible to do this by utilizing some custom javascript code that could be placed in the announcement banner of Jira.

There is a related KB for Confluence called How to hide elements in Confluence using CSS or JavaScript.   While this is not exactly designed for Jira, much of the information there can be utilized for Jira as well.

There are lots of other threads in Community where users have wanted to hide or remove some elements from the page in Jira.  I have a shortlist of these threads that I have been personally involved in, but I know there are lots more.

So it is very possible you can customize and hide elements on a page if you're using Jira Server (the same is not true of Jira Cloud, Atlassian Cloud products do not have this ability).  In my experience, I have utilized the browser developer tools commonly found in browsers like Chrome, Firefox, etc to attempt to find the HTML/CSS element names needed to hide some bits using javascript.

If you have some particular section that you want to hide perhaps I can help you find the appropriate javascript needed to do that if you can let me know more about your needs here.

Regards,

Andy
