Hiding Archived projects

Emma Starr July 12, 2018

Have followed all the steps to archive a project and it does work as if I click on the project I can no longer acess the board, however it still doesn't disappear from my list of projects which is annoying - is there anyway to solve this?

Hey There Emma,

Depending on your environment it could be a couple things.

Are you using the new Project Archiving method currently only available on Jira Data Center as covered HERE  Or are you using the Alternate method of removing user permissions as covered HERE?

If this is in Datacenter on the New Feature Please file a support request at https://support.atlassian.com as this would indicate a BUG on the new feature, and we would like to look into this in more detail.

If this is the Permissions route, and the project is visible under the Project drop down > View all projects its the Browse Project permission still being set for a group you are a member of.

If its for admin users under the project administration page, this cannot be hidden noting from the the KB:

A 'hidden' project will still be visible via the 'Administration' menu, but it will no longer appear in the 'Browse Projects' list, and no-one will be able to search, view or modify any of the project's issues.

Also as the New Project Archive Feature was released for DataCenter via the following Feature request which is set to resolved:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-1450

We have Cloned the original and created a secondary Request to track the progress of the feature for Jira Standalone viewable here:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-67413

If you are on standalone and are interested in the feature please make sure to upvote the suggestion to help us track interest in the feature.

Regards,
Earl
