How Do I Set Up Automation In Project Settings?

Lea S October 2, 2024

Hi,

I'm trying to set up an automation that allows a JIRA task to automatically notify an assignee's teammate/manager when created.

I've received this instruction from the community:

  1. Go to Project Settings > Automation.
  2. Click Create Rule.
  3. Select Issue Assigned as the trigger.
  4. (Optional) Add a condition to target specific assignees if needed.
  5. Add the action Send Email and set it up to notify the manager using smart values or the manager’s email.
  6. Save and test the rule.

However, I can't seem to find the Project Settings button. I'm currently a user access admin.

  • What type of admin role do i need in order to access Project Settings?
  • Where can go to find the Project Settings button?

Hi @Lea S

welcome to atlassian community

To access project settings you need to be project administrator of the respective project.

only project admins can see the project settings button which is why it’s not available to you. Get in touch with your jira admin/ existing admins to provide you the access.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi @Lea S

Welcome to the community :)

This means you don't have the admin access to your project you are trying to see automation

Please reach out to your admin and ask them to give you below permission in the project
